Information for PhD Students

Students who do not start at the beginning of the academic year

Many students register in September/October/November. For students who do not start at the beginning of the academic year the deadlines for the PhD Plan, and End of Year One, Two and Three Progress Report and Interviews will be adjusted to accommodate this. The PhD plan takes place around 3.5 months from registration. The End of Year One Progress Report and Interview takes place approximately 8 months after the start date (report) and 9 months (for the interview) and similarly in years two and three. Here are the dates for students starting at other times.

Please note that the Annual Faculty Progress report (on Tulip/Spider) is carried out by all students in June irrespective of start date. Similarly the dates for the University Poster Day and the Departmental PhD Workshop is fixed.

Part-time students

Part-time students take two years to complete each year of the PhD, so the deadlines are adjusted appropriately.
